What is the language of instruction used in the university?
Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) is the main language of instruction in regular study programs at UGM. Meanwhile, English is used as the language of instruction in international programs, such as the International Undergraduate Program (IUP).
International students studying under scholarship (GMIF, KNB, and TIAS) are required to attend a regular study program, which requires them to undergo a 6-month to 1-year Indonesian language program, organized by INCULS (Indonesian Culture and Language Services) under Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM.
Does the university provide scholarships?
UGM offers several scholarships for prospective students, ranging from government-based scholarships to faculty and study program-based scholarships. Please check our Scholarship page to see the complete list.
Does the university provide health insurance?
The health insurance provided by the university is limited to GMIF, KNB, and TIAS scholarship awardees. Other international students are highly encouraged to independently purchase health insurance that covers their entire stay duration in Indonesia.
Does the university provide on-campus accommodation?

Does the university assist with the visa process?
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) UGM will assist the visa process for international scholars in UGM, ranging from students, guest lecturers, and researchers. There is no need to visit the Indonesian embassy; the prospective scholars will only need to provide the documents and OIA will help apply the visa for them.
What is a SSO account?
SSO (Single Sign-On) account is a personal account owned by every academic community member in UGM, from students, staff, to lecturers. This account is mainly used to access the campus Wi-Fi, students’ academic information system, and other campus facilities. Check our SSO Account page for more information.
I entered the wrong data while filling the registration form. How will this affect the admission process?
Entering the wrong data in the application form will result in incorrect information in the Letter of Offer (LO) and Letter of Acceptance (LoA). To prevent this, make sure to double-check the data you entered before submitting the application form. If there is still some wrong data after submitting the application form, immediately contact the Admission Team at admission@ugm.ac.id to request for data correction.
